mickeywave Hi, Neff!

You've done an excellent job of reproducing the TS2 house for TS3. I've played that house several times (it's one of my favorites) which includes some re-modeling, at times. I recognized the house even before I saw the pictures that BBdoll had sent you. Excellent job by both of you. extrahappy

Thanks Lilly. I think on this one, I added a slidng door for my sims to get out the back. Most of these houses didn't have a back door. :(

mickeywave Hi BBdoll!

Smile I'm smiling because I do the same thing--add back doors. If I have kids and a play ground in the back or a garden for the adults, then I like them to be able to get to those things more quickly than having to walk out of the front door and then around to the back. I often make other changes in EA houses as well. It would seem to me that the people at EA who made these houses, never played a TS2 family in them. Just a thought. Which is probably why I find some rather awkward things. I just remember to put my re-modeled house (if it doesn't have any Sims living in it) into the Sim bin, so that, if I want to use it again, the basic remodeling is already done. Very Happy

hello2 My Friend! I'm always remodeling and changing stuff, and adding to my bin as well. After Nef asked me to help her take pics of the houses in my game I thought, "om"... I don't have many originals. I've either remodeled them or replaced them with my own creations.

Luckly I found some and that's only because I had caught that virus a while back and when I restored my game I had lost all of my own personal creations! crying That was a very sad day. In fact, I've had those days about 3 times so far, and don't care to have any more. rolling lol

Yes, BBdoll it's very sad when you lose stuff that you've worked on.

I played a little bit in Veronaville in the Summerdream house as is true in Pleasantville and Strangetown, it's necessary to remodel some of the houses to "winterize them" because of the Seasons EP. The house has all almost all arches rather than doorways, so I had to change that. I also added a kids playground and a porch off the kitchen which stretches to the backyard as well as stairs coming down from street to level, so that my Sims could use it. Also, the Beaker (or is it Bleaker, I don't recall) house in Strangetown is missing a good portion of the upper level roof and in Pleasantview the Pleasant house is missing a wall in Angela's upstairs room. Before I realized that many of the houses built before Season had parts missing, I was playing the Pleasant house and couldn't figure out why Angela's temperature gauge would turn blue when it was cold outside and she was in her room. sad Finally I put all the wall and the roof up and found it--the missing wall. bangdesk Now, whenever, I play in any of the three original neighborhoods, I have to check to see whether or not the weather will be a problem. I guess I should really say "seasonalize" it as the rain can be just as much of a problem if part of the roof is missing as can the heat during the summer.

Before I make changes or remodel, I try to save a copy of the original house except where Sims are already living there because it's just too much to have to move everything out, copy the house and move everything and everyone back in. Very Happy

rolling lol I know. I realized that when my simmies started freezing. Did not realize there were no doors so had to put doors on. Wonder what the creator was thinking about not having doors? rolling lol I was doing the same as you, hun. Glad I wasn't the only one clueless. HeHe! Laughing

Yes, being there is so much Yard space, we can always 'Expand' to the house. I do that too. That is a good idea to save the original home. I didn't do that, so most of mine are my upgrades. I guess I could copy them from my other comp if I wanted. I'm in the process of re-installing my game on my other one. I found most things are missing, therefore, causing my game to crash and Apartment Life, you can just forget playing that part. I go into my lot and it stops. I went to look at them on my husbands and granddaughter's logon's, and they are missing. Nothing, so I've backed up everything and gonna uninstall them, then put them back in.

I hate doing that. Everytime I do, something comes up missing. The first time I did it, I got everything back, next two times everything was out of whack.

I know what you mean about moving peeps. The only thing about that, they lose all of their relationships with family and friends. Plus, the furniture converts to cash if you don't put the stuff in their inventory.

Anyway, I love how Nef has upgraded the houses. They are beautiful. That's one thing about Sims3, it has out of this world graphics. Love the colors. heartpump

BBdoll, I don't think the Sims lose their relationships if you move them into the Sim bin and then into a house in the same neighborhood. And, all their stuff can be put into inventory. It's just a pain and time consuming to do it and I have to remember all the pictures on the walls and the outside items. If you move them into the lots and houses bin and then into a different neighborhood they will lose their relationships and some of the files get shredded and bits and pieces are in both neighborhoods thus corrupting both of them which is why that's a VBT (Very Bad Thing). Not knowing that VBTs existed, I corrupted my original game very badly the first time. So, chose to uninstall and re-install when my OS was refurbished. Otherwise, I think that you can just re-set the neighborhoods--taking them back to their original state. I haven't tried that but somehow my Desiderata Valley neighborhood seems to have been corrupted from the beginning so am thinking of re-setting that neighborhood. It would be starting over without the uninstall/reinstall stuff. Whatever you do, don't forget the patches.

Good luck with your corrupt and/or glitchy neighborhoods. The only problem that I had with Apartment Life was a corruption on the Sentinel Apartment. Everyone was always fighting--even the nanny was outside fighting with whoever came along rather than inside watching the Etsu or Sally. So, moved out the two playable families: then, bull-dozed the apartment. I'm playing them in a different house now.

Thanks for the info hun. Oh, where do I get the patches? Do I add those after I do the install? I can't remember.

mickeywave Hi, BBdoll!

You get the patches on the official website for TS2 or TheSims2.com.

On the home page there are a number of things across the top. Click on the Help buttom (with an ambulance by it). It's the second from the right when I go on The Sims 2 website home page. Then a series of words goes down and the second one is Patches. Click on that and it will bring you to all the list of patches. Choose the ones that apply and click on them (one at a time) and it will automatically download into your game. (This assume that you have your game on the same computer as the internet and the TS2 website.)

And, yes. Install you TS2 game first. Then install the patches. (I think you need to have a game on your computer before you can patch the game.)

From stuff that I've read, it's best to install the games in the order that they were released, if possible (since subsequent EPs can change the game play). Here's the order that is suggested to install the EPs and SPs:

The Sims 2 (Sims 2 Deluxe, Sims 2 Double Deluxe or Sims 2 Holiday Edition--whichever you have)

University (or University Life Collection)

Nightlife (disregard if you have Sims 2 Deluxe or Sim 2 Double Deluxe)

Christmas Party Pack (US) or Holiday Party Pack (UK)

Open For Business or Best of Business Collection

Family Fun Stuff or Fun with Pets Collection

Glamour Life Stuff

Pets (disregard if you have Fun with Pets Collection)

Happy Holiday Stuff (disregard if you Sims 2 Holiday Edition)

Seasons

Celebration Stuff (disregard if you have Best of Business Collection)

H & M Fashion Stuff (disregard if you have Best of Business Collection)

Bon Voyage

Teen Style Stuff (disregard if you have University Life Collection)

Free Time

Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff (disregard if you have Best of Business Collection)

IKEA Home Stuff (disregard if you University Life Collection)

Apartment Life

Mansion & Garden Stuff (disregard if you have Fun with Pets Collection)

NOTE: I've seen more than one Simmer comment that although Mansion & Garden Stuff is an SP, it acts more like an EP. I would agree with that comment. I think it's has a lot of great building stuff.

I hope that helps. goodluck Good luck with your reinstallation.
