Crash!!

:( Hello everyone, I am in mourning today, all of my sims were killed by a deadly virus that swept through all of my towns. My sims will be missed :( Its not fair... Why? Why does my computer always crash when I am having the most fun with it. Its just not fair..lol


:roll: Oh well, now I get to start all over again.. yay, good thing the pictures I need for the last 3 chapters of Brandy Broke story were stored on photo bucket or I would be :evil: Not happy!

Just thought I would share that, I am sure someone out there in simland feels my pain..lol.

OMG! Tasia, I'm sooooo sorry! I know how you feel about losing your peeps. I've lost mine and lots (3) times. Hate the rebuild. Most of my peeps had families and were PLAT. I worked hard to get them where they were in their life.

Now, I save copies of ALL of my Favs, and if something happens again, I can just load them back. I didn't lose them because of viruses the first two times. I was installing and uninstalling ep's and forgot to save, but the last time my husband caugh a virus on his comp and when they loaded stuff it was from like day one. :'(.

So sorry for your lost hun. Oh, how did you get the virus?

Oh my goodness, I have totally done the install a EP and not save, bummer. EA likes to keep you on your toes that way.
I have most of my stuff backed up. But this was bad. My computer would not shut down with out me killing the power and then it would not stay on, I would come home and it would just be off and would not turn back on without me killing my power to reboot. My son says my motherboard is probably shot and I should replace it soon. I was glad he was able to get it going again. I told him I had to at least be able to post my next part to my story. :cyclops: Basically he reset it to out of the box settings.Tomorrow I will run all the updates and reinstall my games. yay
Im still not sure what happend. But my anti virus kept getting turned off and it would not let me turn it back on. Weird.

It's very likely you may of picked up a virus or malware somewhere. Or it could very well be the motherboard like your son said (I've had lot of experience with that; it's had to be replace 3 times already!) or both. I recommend this great little program to get you computer straightened out and it's the only thing I've ever found that does; it's called MalwareBytes and it will find anything and remove it that your antivirus let's slip by.

Occasionally that happens, as antivirus' are not foolproof and malware and worms can get onto your computer through tracking cookies (not this site) through hacker's sites and seize your computer that way, and that's often how your antivirus get turned off -by that! With MalwareBytes though, it may take 2-4 hours for it to scan your computer thoroughly, but it is definitely worth the wait.
And regular backing up of your computer's and game's content are a must - we've all learned that the hard way! When I've accomplished something in my game, I will back it up on a flashdrive for safe keeping; you can also backup on dvds or external harddrives, but the external harddrives can burn out from over use over time too, although very rarely.
